Ground-Breaking for New Bala House Building
on Track for 2008!

Yes, it is true! After many years of dreaming, planning and saving, our vision to upgrade school facilities has become a reality. Thanks to the many past and present Bala House families, alumni, board members, and staff for their unwavering commitment and support in keeping our dream of a new Bala House school building alive. We are moving forward!

Enormous progress has been made during the past year on the development of a new Bala House / St. Asaph's building. Below is what has been accomplished this past year:

  • Traffic and Historic Impact Studies
  • Review with The Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd
  • Historic Commission Review and Approval
  • Exterior materials selected and approved by Lower Merion Historical Commission
  • Secured Necessary Special Exception and Waivers from Lower Merion Township Zoning Hearing Board
  • Tentative Sketch Land Development Application Filed
  • Met with Landscape Architect to review township requirements
  • On going meetings with Interior Designer to select interior finishes

During the next several months the following tasks will take place to keep this critical project moving forward:

  • Planning Commission Sketchplan Review & Approval
  • Building and Planning Committee Sketchplan Review & Approval
  • Commissioners Sketch Plan Review & Approval
  • Develop Site/Civil Preliminary Plan
  • Submit Application for Preliminary Plan Approval

As you can see, we have come a long way, but still have a long way to go. You are the key to our success. With your continued support, together we will move forward to make the dream a reality, and break ground for a new Bala House school building in 2008!
